...got diagnosed with asthma today. For about 4 or 5 months now he's had a chronic cough that wouldn't go away. The doctor thought it was an infection, then allergies, and now after all these trial and error runs...asthma. I wanted to cry for my little guy because he's been suffering all of this time! At least we're on the right track for him to start feeling better!
We got our ultrasound today (at 20 weeks) and we're having a GIRL!! Needless to say...I was SHOCKED!! I was so sure I was having a boy. In fact, when we were looking at the "parts" I was like..."so it's a boy, right?" and she's like..."nope!" and then I died. So while I'm expanding, she's just takin a load off...legs crossed and all.
We taped the whole ultrasound and it was pretty awesome (to see the full ultrasound video, click here.) Ever since the second I felt her move, she hasn't stopped moving. She is quite the active little miss! She wasn't too excited about the ultrasound and when the girl would push, she would kick back. We might have a fiesty one on our hands!!
I just got back from North Carolina. I met Spencer and my dad there for Olivia's blessing. Rich and Eileen have lived there since August while Rich is going to ECU for his Masters in Geography (or Geology...like I kept saying...ha!) Let me just say...this was SOOO fun!!! I am SO glad that I decided to go. Here are the happy parents...that look SO young to me!! I guess we all looked that way when we were first married...at least I hope so!
The little Sis of the hour. What a cutie!! She is just so precious and I had a great time re-figuring out how small newborns really are. Either Bryce wasn't ever that small, or my memory is french-fried! Eileen's sister made the dress that her daughter wore also - such a great tradition!
We all got there on Friday night and just hung around the house and had a delicious dinner (which, by the way was partly from The Pioneer Woman...fettucini alfredo...make it now!!) On Saturday we ventured out to the coast. we pulled off the road once to check out the cotton fields...such tourists!
And here is little Missy...ruling the house! Whenever she was awake, we all were just circling her staring and cooing.
Spencer and Olivia.
So we went out to the coast, Mags Head and Kitty Hawk. Kitty Hawk is where the Wright Brothers first flew. We went to a tour and walked up to the top of the hill where they would do their practice runs. It was a really cool experience!
Us at the Wright Brothers monument.
Notice my dad and his binoculars. He took them everywhere he went...such a tourist!!!
Then we headed over to the beach. It was REALLY cold and windy there!
Baseball on the beach.
Then we stopped at a lighthouse just for a few minutes before it got too dark.
Sunday was the blessing and then my dad and Spencer left on Monday while I got to stay one more day...completely childless. It was AMAZING!!! It was just the break I needed. And this is what Olivia thought of me leaving...nanny, nanny...you have to go home!!
Yesterday...I met The Pioneer Woman!!!!!! It couldn't have been a more perfect day. I thought I was going to have to enjoy the day by myself, but luckily I found Jenna!! We are equally obsessed with The Pioneer Woman and therefore made it THAT much more enjoyable! Our day started by heading up to the bookstore in Sugar House at 2pm...the book signing wasn't till 7. So we got there...and we were the first ones. So the bookstore informed us that people probably wouldn't be showing up until 4pm, so we headed up to Park City for a short shopping trip. At like 3:30 we rushed back because we were DETERMINED to be at the front of the line! We got back and still...no one waiting. So we went across the street and ate a sandwich and watched the line. As soon as someone got in line, we ran over and got in line. We were like 3rd in line. So we waited...and waited...and waited...and got steamers at Starbucks and talked and talked and talked. And finally they let us in. We were SURE we were going to be in the front row and as we rushed in (I'm pretty sure I threw a few elbows) Jenna and I race to the front...only to be duped by a CHEATER and her CHEATER daughter!!! They had been sitting in there before we were let in and there were 2 seats by her in the front row but she said that her daughter needed one...who was like 4 and then ended up sitting on the floor the ENTIRE time!!!! So we had to sit in the second row...SUPER pissed!!! But needless to say...we were close anyway!
So she came in and talked for a while and answered any questions for about 30 minutes. It was THE BEST!!! Look how close we were!! She took a few pictures.
This is Jenna and I in the front of the line that wrapped around like 2 blocks. I think the bookstore underestimated the amount of people that were going to come...the only set up 150 chairs...amateurs!
Here are all of the people we were in front of.
Jenna and I with our newly signed books in the 15th Street Gallery. In line they handed out tickets for the actual book signing after the question and answer portion. Since we were at the front of the line we got an "A" ticket and were 3rd in line after the question and answer to get our book signed. I was so excited to talk to her and to tell her that I had a son named Bryce too and that I was married to someone from Tulsa...this much in common means I'm pretty much a celebrity too...right?! I think so!! So we were on our way home at 7:45pm...while hundreds and hundreds of people would wait till all hours of the night to try and get in. I guess we were the winners after-all by getting there at 2! SUCH A GREAT DAY!!! Thanks Jenna for making it SO enjoyable!!!
We started the day out by having Bryce paint his pumpkin...he loved it because we could wipe it off and he could start over...like every 1/2 hour...the whole day. Then we made sugar cookies that we cut into pumpkins and ghosts to decorate later. When I wasn't looking, Bryce ate about half the dough.
We met up with Chase and Callie to go trick or treating and had a photo shoot. Chase was batman, Bryce a golfer, and Callie a princess.
Now these two are quite the pair! It's just so amazing to me that they are not actually twins.
Holding hands while trick or treating...they did it on their own!
Bryce pulling Callie along...Bryce was quite the trick or treater! He was in a dead sprint from one house to the other...leaving all of his trick or treating buddies behind! People kept asking..."did you guys practice doing this before you came?" Nope. He's just a REALLY excited kid!
The 4 two year olds. We also met up with cousins Jack and Henry. These four are all like 2 months apart. Jack and Henry were ninjas. It was the cutest thing watching all four of them go up to the doors.
I bought this jacket about a year ago at D.I. as a part of a full-on suit. It just happened to go SO well with his outfit!
The kids getting candy.
One time Bryce just walked up to Mason, took his hand and started walking. We were laughing so hard!
We finished the night off by decorating the sugar cookies. It was SUCH a great day...just because Bryce was SUPER excited about everything we did. I just wish I could take a video of the entire day to remember his excitement and determination! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Bryce was in the singing mood tonight and for some reason didn't mind me taping him...which is VERY strange! But, I'll take it! Singing "Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree".
Well, we made it through our LAST Law School Halloween party!!! It was AWESOME!! Considering the past 2 years (remember here and here) I was a little worried how well it would go. I was VERY pleasantly surprised! Bryce went as a golfer this year equip with the clubs and everything. I was a little shocked at the fact that he wore the hat the whole time! Here is the classic picture of Bryce at Daddy's desk.
He got right into the groove of trick-or-treating and said "trick-or-treat!!" at every station.
If you couldn't tell, I took A LOT of pictures because I was just so excited that he was so excited! He had a huge smile the whole time.
